3 Ways To Create A Graphic Backdrop

by Rick Hendershot

It is important to have a backdrop system for your trade show booth or sales presentation that can be easily and economically updated. You will also want to control transport and assembly costs. A design concept that has prohibitive costs attached to it won't be satisfactory no matter how professional it appears. An appealing and versatile concept that can be used in all sorts of places will help control costs too.

Classic Pop-Up Display

The classic popup display with a collapsible frame and graphic panels is still the most popular type of backdrop. A typical display measures either 8' or 10' in width by about 8' high. If you look at what is behind the podium at most conventions, special event, or announcement, you'll usually spot a standard graphic popup display. This is especially the case if the event is short-term or a traveling event such as an election campaign that has to move quite frequently from place to place.

Normally, fiberglass or aluminum tubes are used to make the folding frame of a popup display. The display panels which cover the frame, are either Velcro-ready fabric panels, or printed graphics. Printed graphic panels are made of a material like Duralex which are printed in full color and are protected by lamination or a special protective coating.

The frame when set up has dimensions of 8' (or 10') wide by approximately 8' high. It can then fold down to dimensions of about 8" square by 30" wide. Due to its stability, when unfolded it does not require any anchors or other supports to enable it to sit firmly on the floor. Normal weight is close to 15 lb.

The panels that cover the frame are about 30" wide by 8' high. They are normally adhered to the frame by means of magentic strips applied to their back surface. Once the panels are applied to the frame the display gains even greater stability. When they are taken off the frame, the panels are flexible enough to be rolled up so they fit in the lightweight carrying case. The carrying case also serves as a shipping case.

2. A Popup Fabric Wall Display

The fabric showcase is a spin off of the popup. It contains the same type of folding frame as the standard popup showcase. But it does not require the extra graphic panels, or a method of attaching them to the frame.

Rather, the fabric graphic features a specially printed fabric graphic that is pre-attached to the frame. To set it up all you have to do is to remove the unit from its case and extend it upward until it is fully unfurled. As it expands, the long-lasting, beautifully-printed fabric will stretch out smoothly. It doesn't get much easier than that.

Similar to regular popup displays, fabric displays also come in 8' and 10' widths. They are also available in narrower 4' widths that can be used where space is at a premium.

A fabric display or "fabric wall" as they are sometimes called is essentially a billboard-in-a-bag. It knocks down into a nylon duffel for easy transport. Setting it up or taking it down can be done by one person in about 5 minutes.

Fabric displays are a great option for product intros, event marketing venues, lobby signs, or almost anywhere where you would like to make a bold statement. Normally fabric is printed using a process called dye-sublimation, which transfer colors directly into the fabric. This process creates a great deal of stain resistance, and also guarantees that they will keep looking fresh and new for years. The quality of the printing is also exceptionally sharp and brilliant.

3. Fabric Banner Backdrop

Whether you need to dress up a trade show space, a podium background or a stage for a convention or conference, or even for a sales presentation, the Fabric Banner Backdrop is the perfect inexpensive way to create a graphic backdrop.

The Fabric Banner Backdrop typically consists of an adjustable tubular frame that can telescope its width from 3' to 8' and its height from 4' to 8'. Although larger frames can be purchased, the 8' X 8' (fully extended) model is the most popular frame size.

A full color one piece fabric banner is mounted on the frame by using pole pockets at the top and bottom, and the frame sits on the floor. Although this system is a bit more difficult to assemble than a fabric popup, it is only about half the cost. It is also more versatile than the other solutions because the frame size can be adjusted and the printed banner can be changed quite easily if you need to make modifications to what it says or the way it looks.

Don't you dare buy a fabric popup display until you see our prices and fantastic image quality. Ideal for your conference, convention, sales presentation, band, or trade show booth. SEO strategy works.
