Project Management Training: The Tools You Need

by George Purdy

Project management training is the process of training people to work on projects and manage all aspects of the project so that all resources can be utilized to the fullest extent. In order to manage a project, the project manager can utilize project management tools. Leadership consists of a large part of project management, without good leadership the project can not be successful.

Part of a project manager's job is to define a project's scope. This way, the project will not evolve into something too large to be completed on time. Aspects of project management can actually be applied to projects of any size. In fact, people use project management tools all the time, without even knowing that they are the same tools project managers use.

One example of a project is cleaning one's house. The one that is doing the cleaning must first make plans. These plans will include where to start the cleaning, what cleaning supplies and tools will be needed, and how much time they want to spend on each room. Every decision that is made in the house cleaning is also part of project management planning.

A larger project could be building a house. Building a house would require many different aspects of a project. First they would need to have an architect to design the house, then the people to clear the land and prepare it for building, the builders, carpenters, painters and so forth. In a project such as this, certain aspects of the project must be completed before other parts begin. This is when project management becomes a contact sport.

Management of resources and the given timeframe to complete the project are the most important aspects of project management. Project managers must keep these points while executing the projects. It's like a contact sport. Division of labour, supply of materials and any other thing, which are included form part of the resources. All the resources are very crucial to the project although some sources may be active in the completion of the project.

Training is necessary for understanding and implementing project management. Many tools are available for projects managers for project management training which can help in planning, resource assigning and setting timeline for project completion etc. These programs teach the importance of good communication and contact support within the team. Without proper communication and constant support with each of the team members projects can not be successfully completed on time.

In conclusion, project management training is an essential tool to use when planning any type of project. Even the smallest projects are managed by project management, and larger project have much more detailed project management, which some computer software can help to manage such projects.

project management training facilitates effective management of the project by optimum resource utilization/good leadership. Use of project management tools ensures better management. Scope must be defined clearly irrespective of its size to meet deadlines. For executing the project 'cleaning one's home', one has to identify the elements of activity/duration/resources and plan accordingly. Similarly, the larger project 'building a house' will consist of activities such as design, land clearance/excavation/construction/carpentry/painting etc. These are interdependent and Leadership Is A Contact Sport. Project managers should have proper communication/contact to effectively manage men/supplies/outsourcing/time and cost. Training for managing is a must for small/big projects. Computer software helps in management of large projects.
