Reston Virginia Real Estate - We're Where Everyone Else Wants To Be

by Robert Earl

Located 20 miles outside of Washington, DC is the densely populated urban suburb of Reston. Reston was founded in 1964 as a planned modern community. Higher density housing and conservation of space were incorporated into the planning of this community. Because of this forward thinking which contained planning for industry, business, recreation and education, getting your home ready to sell is made much easier.

Reston is carefully planned with larges areas of forest and many streams. There are no meadows because the town was built in the midst of a forest filled with oak, sycamore, maple, and Virginia pine trees. The first part of the city was built around a lake.

Reston Virginia real estate is a maverick of sorts as far as real estate in Northern Virginia is concerned. That is to say it was and is a planned community. In fact it was the first modern planned community in the United States and its founder was Robert E. Simon. Planned communities have noble goals of setting up ideal and self-contained towns that focus on quality of life by avoiding unplanned development and the hazards thereof.

The Savoy condos in Reston are designed to preserve as much green space as possible. In general, Reston has much more open space than anywhere else in Fairfax County, Virginia, based upon my observations from showing thousands of homes in the area. Many homes and townhouses are designed to appear as if you live alone in the forests. Reston neighborhoods are much quieter and more private than those elsewhere in northern Virginia.

You'll find about 20 neighborhood public pools in Reston, Virginia, along with many miles of walking trails, a scattering of lakes... you get the picture. The area is quite verdant and well-dimensioned, thus every inhabitant of Reston can share in what it provides, irrespective of wealth -- quite democratic. This is the reason most, if not all, who live there spend a small amount for association dues to Reston, Virginia condominiums.

Reston Virginia real estate has always labeled its neighborhoods as "Reston" which is probably one of the most annoying aspects. This is a hassle from a realtor's point of view. In the neighborhood of Reston is every home in the area, which then makes for narrowing comps down for a home very challenging.

Reston is a densely-populated, urban suburb located about 20 miles outside of Washington, DC. It was founded in 1964 as the first modern planned community. The town incorporates higher density housing while conserving open space, and it mixes use areas for industry, business, recreation, education, and getting your home ready to sell is really easy. Being able to preserve open space is one of the main goals of the Reston Savoy condos. Reston Virginia real estate is very unique in terms of how "green" it is. A lot of townhouses and homes give the feeling as if you are living alone in the middle of the woods.
