How To Do Article Marketing The Right Way

by Kale McClelland

Do you want your newly published or about-to-be-published website to be packed with traffic from day one? Of course you do, because traffic is the soul of any website. There are many methods of generating traffic, and one very easy, yet effective, method is article marketing.

Article marketing is writing original, informative articles that revolve around your website's content, and then publishing them on special directories (called reprint directories). These reprint directories then host the articles and any website seeking content can pick them up from these directories and publish them without making any alterations.

So, how do these articles get you more traffic? The trick lies in adding a small resource box at the end of each article that links back to your website. So, when your article (along with the resource box) is published on many different sites, they automatically link back to you, increasing your search engine page rank. Soon, you will find your website figuring in the top search engine page results, and every website that gets up there receives massive traffic.

Another important factor to note is that your content must be informative and original. If you copy content from another website and pass it off as your own, search engines will blacklist you. Also, if your article is not informative and merely blah-blahs or goes around in circles without focusing on the topic, then no one will pick it up for publication. Your article must also include a few "keywords" that are relevant to your business - including these in your content will make your article more visible to the search engines. The lesson, therefore, is to have your content written by a professional who knows about keywords.

Here are some more pointers on how to write good articles:

1. Make your article comfortable to read. People do not want to read something that goes on forever and ever but they also want to obtain decent information. The average acceptable length is between 5-600 words.

2. As stated above, it must be original and informative. When a website owner reads your article, he must exclaim, "Hey, this is good stuff. I sure could use this piece on my website!"

3. Research on high-value keywords before including them in your article. Use this link for carrying out keyword research: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

4. You want the reader to feel engaged so use a friendly tone.

5. Make sure to use every day language, industry specific language will usually confuse readers.

6. Make sure that spelling and grammar rules are followed

7. The title is what you use to catch your reader and get them interested in reading your article so make sure it is something that draws attention.

8. The resource box is the selling point. You will want to write something that is going to make people want to click on the link in order to obtain more information.

If you are not used to writing or are not a writer consider outsourcing your content. There are a number of freelance websites that take work on a per project basis and will provide professional, original, and optimized content for you.
